Abstract
An Investigation of the Relationsip between the Proiıciency Level of the Students and Their Perceived Attitude of Mother-Father
The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between the level of career
decision making self-efficacy of the 9th and 12th grade students and their perceived
parental attitudes. At the same time, it was also investigated in the study, whether the
level of career decision making self-efficacy and perceived parental attitudes differ in
terms of demographic variables. The sample of the study is composed of 346 students
which are from 9th and 12th grade in the academic year of 2018-2019, 176 of total students
are females and the rest 170 students are males and these students are studying at Akşehir
Hacı Sıddıka Baysal Science High School and Akşehir Şehit Selçuk Özer Anatolian High
School in Akşehir district of Konya Province. The research model is relational screening
model. In order to collect data, “Personal Information Form”, “Career Decision Making
Self-Efficacy Scale” which was developed by Bozgeyikli (2004), “Parental Attitude Scale”
which was developed by Kuzgun (1972), later rearranged by Kuzgun and Eldeleklioğlu
(1999) was used. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS 25.0 program. Kolmogorov-
Smirnov test was used for the normalization analysis of the scales and sub-dimensions.
Mann-Whitney U test was used for to compare the variables with two groups of scales and
sub-dimensions. Kruskal-Wallis H test was used for to compare the variables with more
than two groups of scales and sub-dimensions. In order to determine the relationship
between scales and sub-dimensions Spearman correlation analysis was used. It was found
that “Career Decision Making Self-Efficacy Scale” with its all sub-dimensions shows no
significant difference according to gender, level of father's education and monthly income
level of the family. Furthermore, it was defined that “Parental Attitude Scale” all subdimensions
shows no significant difference according to level of mother’s and father’s
education and monthly income level of the family.
