Abstract
A New Experience in Memory Education: Memory with the Formal Education - Importance, Problems and Expectations-
The Holy Qur’an, was secured by memorized by the Prophet and the distinguished
Companions since his descent. The Qur’an Memorizing Education, which started in
the period of the Prophet and continued until today, is carried out in formal and nonformal
religious education institutions today. Officially, Qur'an Memorizing Education
that is carried out only in the Qur’an courses by the Religious Affairs Directorate, since
2014, has started to be made in imam hatip schools together with formal education by
the Ministry of National Education and the Directorate of Religious Affairs. This study
focuses on the current situation, importance, problems and expectations of this project
who a new experience in Qur’an with the formal education projects in Turkey. The study
was used case study pattern which is a qualitative research pattern. The study group
consists of 41 memory students studying in three religious education secondary schools
in Zonguldak provinces and 14 memory tutorial and 3 administrators working in these
schools. Research data were gathered with focus group interview method. The focus
group interviews were held, nine times with students, five times with instructive. The
findings obtained were evaluated combined under the titles as main theme and sub-theme.
Proposals are also presented in line with the results obtained in the study.
