Determine the Technology Addiction Levels of Individuals Who Do Sports According to Demographic Features
The aim of this study is to determine the technology addiction levels of individuals who do sports in different branches. For this purpose, in the study, technology dependency levels of students enrolled in different sports branches in Kars Province, according to different demographic characteristics were examined. The study was conducted with relational survey method, which is one of the general survey methods. The sample of the study consists of a total of 339 students doing sports in different branches. “Technology Dependency Scale” developed by Güclü and Dilci (2015) was used as data collection tool in the study. The data obtained from the study are expressed in percent (%), frequency (f), average ( x ), and standard deviation (SS) values. One-way Anova test and simple linear regression analysis correlation analysis were used to analyze the data. In addition, Scheffe test, one of the Post-Hoc tests, was used to determine which group or groups the difference between groups originated from. Findings obtained from the study showed that there was no statistically significant difference in terms of gender and family socio-economic levels in students' technological addiction levels, even so a statistically significant difference in terms of age and time spent in social networks. In addition, it has been observed that there is a positive and significant relationship between the time spent in social networks and technology addiction levels. Another research result is that individuals who do sports have low technology addicts. Therefore, sports has been identified as an effective activity to prevent such addictions.
