Abstract


The Evaluation of Primary Education Orientation Guideline Practices in Primary Education according to the Teachers’ Views
The purpose of orientation guideline practices in primary education is to help students graduated from 8th grade tend to academic education, vocational and technical education or fine arts education in accordance with their interests, abilities, and qualifications. It is expected that students have the opportunity to prepare the fields and occupations by developing their interests and abilities through orientation activities. In this study, the practices of primary education orientation guidelines which was launched at schools in 2003-2004 academic year in accordance with the opinions of secondary school teachers. For this purpose, it has been consulted to 20 teachers’ views in the province of Erzurum. Qualitative research methods were used in this study and the findings obtained were analyzed by qualitative methods of data analysis. According to results of the study, it has been identified that the practice of orientation guideline in primary education has not been implemented effectively for its purpose and there has been a number of shortcomings and deficiencies.
