Abstract
Investigation of the Relationship between Perception of Fatherhood Role of Fathers with Children in Preschool Period and Father Participation Status
In this study, it was aimed to investigate the paternal role perceptions of fathers with
children in the preschool period and their father participation levels in terms of various
variables, and to determine the relationship between the paternal role perception and
the father participation level. Descriptive research method and survey method were
used in the research. The sample of the study consisted of a total of 200 fathers whose
children attended the private preschool education institution located in the city center
of Gümüşhane. The research data were collected with "Personal Information Form",
"Paternity Role Perception Scale" and "Father Participation Scale". T-test, ANOVA
and Pearson Correlation tests were used in the analysis of the data. In the study, it was
concluded that there was a significant difference between the scores of the fathers in the
perception scale of the fatherhood role and variables that their co-working status, family
type, educational status, spousal education status, information about fatherhood, duration
of marriage, number of children, age of the child, age of being a father for the first time
and perception of communication with his own father. In the study, it was concluded that
there is a significant positive relationship between the paternal role perception scale and
the father participation scale.
