Abstract
Student Opinions about the Effect of Family and Teacher Approaches on Math Anxiety
Within the scope of this study, it was aimed to determine the possible relationship
between family and teacher functionality with math anxiety and fear. The study group
of the study consists of a total of 84 students, 35 females, 49 males, at the 5th grade,
attending a state secondary school in a city in the Eastern Anatolia region. According
to the results obtained, it was determined that there is a significant relationship between
the family and teacher factors and fear of math. In addition, it can be said that students have a fear and anxiety about mathematics due to the lack of mathematics knowledge in
their families and the prejudice of mathematics is difficult about mathematics, and there
is a significant relationship between the teacher factor and the fear of mathematics in the
years after starting secondary school. However, it was determined that the students did
not want to deal with math questions because they were afraid of teachers' reaction, and
they felt intense fear of being evaluated negatively.
