Abstract


The Effects of the Cooperative Reading- Writing- Application and Student Teams Achievement Division Methods on Students’ Academic Achievement: Matter and Heat Unit
The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of cooperative learning model on students’ academic achievement on the unit of “Matter and Heat”. It was used quasi-experimental method to determine the effectiveness of cooperative Reading-Writing- Application (RWA) and Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) methods and survey method used for determining students’ demographic features. The sample of this study was 123 students who study at two secondary schools from Agri. For obtaining data, it was used Pre-Knowledge Test (PKT), Academic Achievement Test (AAT) and scale of student for personal features. For the analysis of the obtained data, descriptive statistics and one way variance analysis (ANOVA) are used. According to results of academic achievement test, STAD was more effective than the others methods as statistical. In addition, students’ socioeconomic conditions affect on academic achievement.
