Abstract
Military Conductor Training Processes: The Case of Turkey, USA and Russia
The military conductors who are the leaders, managers and trainers of military
orchestras; they are trained through a process in which they gain the necessary
competencies in their profession. The research aims to investigate the historical
development and current situation of the military conductor training process in Turkey,
the USA and Russia. This research is important in terms of developing recommendations
for the evaluation of the process and contributing to the literature. In the study, in which
the descriptive survey model, one of the qualitative research methods, was used, the
data obtained by the literature review were interpreted and the past and present of the
process were revealed. When the historical process is examined, it is seen that especially
in the USA and Russia, intensive efforts have been made to give military conductors an
artistic identity, and a programmed education system was developed in the early period
with the contributions of art institutions and artists. Considering the process of training
military conductors in these countries in general, both in terms of military and artistic
needs; it can be said that Russia follows a more organized training process. As a result,
it is revealed that the process of training military conductors should be evaluated in a
versatile way by the professionals of the subject and planned and carried out in a way
that will meet all the needs of the military conductors in their career.
