Abstract
The Love Dimension of Faith
Faith and love have been subjected in many studies and are still among the most spoken/discussed concepts. It is certain that analysis of abstract concepts is more difficult. Despite this difficulty, this study is significant regarding “love”, enabling people to continue their lives, and “faith” that we have concluded it is a reflection of love. The concepts of faith and love that we will discuss may be used instead of each other as stated by Prophet Abraham (a.s.) in Koran “I do not love/believe those which are setting”. When discussing this topic, we will try to analyze the concepts of حب “love” and إيمان “faith”, used in verses of the Koran and hadiths, and semantic, sociological and psychological aspects of these terms. As the type and rhythm of life have changed due to technological developments in this age, individuals and societies may have some new problems in terms of faith and love. This naturally results in both individual and social problems. These problems may be observed in modern societies. The movements, such as atheism, deism, nihilism etc., which have recently become widespread especially in the West, cause some of these problems. In this study, we will try to discuss a different relationship between faith and love. The motive behind this study is the fact that the love dimension of faith has not been investigated sufficiently in the science world.
