Abstract
Analysing the Open Leadership Characteristics of Youth and Sports Provincial Directorate Employees
Although there have been many definitions in the literature on leadership, the concept
of open leadership is recently a current issue. In this research, it is aimed at analysing the
open leadership characteristics of Youth and Sports Provincial Directorate employees in
terms of some demographic variables by determining these features. The research group
includes 112 employees. Personal information form and "Open Leadership Scale (OLS)"
have been used as data collection tools for the study. While the Mann Whitney U test is used when the independent variable consisted of two categories; the Kruskal Wallis
H test is used when the variables are more than two categories in the scores obtained
from the open leadership scale within the scope of the study. In the research findings,
there has been a significant difference in the sub-dimensions of age (Supporting Curiosity
and Accountability) and job description (Effective Use of Social Networks) (p <0.05).
As a result of the research, it is believed that the position and working conditions of the
employees are effective in determining the open leadership status, which is a new concept
in leadership.
