Abstract


Secondary Eighth Graders’ The Scores of Scientific Process Skills and Their Relationship with The Scores of Theirs Placement Test Results
The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between results of scientific process skills and their placement test of eighth graders (in K8). In addition, students’ process skills and their demographic features (gender, mother’s and father’s educational status, number of siblings, frequency of reading books and selecting a future occupation) was compared in this study. The sample of the study was composed of the 99 eighth grade students in one secondary schools located in Erzurum city. “Scientific Process Skills Test” (SPST) and “Placement Test” (PT) was used as data collection instruments. It was determined to a positive correct relationship among the total score of the SPST with the total score of the PT and the results of the Scientific and Technology test of The PT. It was observed that female students were better than male students in identifying variables and operationally defining skills. There was no statistically significant difference between other demographic features.
