Abstract


Assessing of Teachers’ Level of Ethical Values According to Secondary School Students’ Perception
The aim of this study is to assess teachers’ level of ethical values according to secondary school students’ perception. This research is in survey model and study population consists of secondary school students in three different districts of Turkey’s a city in the central Anatolian region in spring semester of the 2012-2013 academic year. In the research “simple random sampling method” has been selected as sampling method and the research has been carried out with 418 students. Research data has been obtained via ‘’ teacher ethical values according to students’ perception’’ scale, which has two factors and composed of 30 items and value of Cronbach alfa .95, by Gündüz ve Coşkun (2012). Frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, independent sample t-test, analysis of variance and Pearson correlation techniques have been used in data analysis process. In the light of finding, following general conclusions are obtained. Teachers’ level of ethical values according to secondary school students’ perception is good, however; it has been lower than expected. In terms of gender, a significant difference has been identified in favor of female students in teachers’ level of ethical values at the scale’s dimension of professional competence. In addition to this, there is no significant difference according to variable of academic grade in teachers’ level of ethical values according to secondary school students’ perception. On the other hand, a relation which is significant, positive and high level has been found teachers’ level of ethical values from the point of teachers’ professional responsibility and competence. Based on obtained results, several suggestions are made.
