Abstract
Different Fields Effects on the Attitudes of the University Students towards Organ Transplantation and Donation
This study was conducted to determine factors affecting universities students' knowledge and attitudes about organ transplantation and donation, according to different educate fields. The study sample was composed of 1509 students from Atatürk university, in the fall semesters of 2012-2013 academic years. Data were collected with a questionnaire consisting of likert questions. The survey consist of four subunits. The 5 of 295 healths, 4 of 378 science, 14 of 836 socials students are donate and these proprotions haven't any different statistically. On the other hand, the views of persons having no organ donation have statistically different according to chi square (p<0,05) and the majority of them are thinking of organ donation very early. In the care and attitude test, these views of different fields aren't statistically important according to chi square (p>0,05). But, health's fields have more willing to donate a person with another religious. In case of death of one of their family members or necessary to give themselves another body when they are alive, We can say that all groups will act in a similar manner. Among the reasons of not thinking to donate an organ aren't statistically important (p<0,05). When we review these reasons, most of them have said that this is early. ''Can you donate an organ to a very close friend? Social fields students are more willing and we can say that the statistical difference between the answers. Health are less worried about the use of donated organs in medical experiments and more positive organ transplants from animals to humans for medical experiments. However, in both health and other fields, students said that do not trust the doctors and think to take the part of organ mafia. On the other hand, we were reported that their knowledge about transplantation and donation is insufficient in the all fields.
