Abstract


An Empirical Study Aiming to Analyze the Interaction between Participative Decision Making, Openness of Management, Organizational Identification and Employee Performance.
Considering the close relationship between increase in organizational performance and employee performance, the importance of decisions and implementations which can positively affect individual performance perceptions is understood more in time. Therefore it has been examined the factors increasing or decreasing employee performance in many studies. The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of participative decision making and openness of management on organizational identification and employee performance via an empirical study. Research population consisted of administrative staff of universities. To this end, this research was conducted on a total of 179 administrative staff working in 7 state universities by using survey method. While participative decision making, openness of management and employee performance were measured as a single dimension, organizational identification were measured with two dimensions that are identification with work-group and identification with organization. The survey data were analyzed through confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis. According to the results, while participative decision making positively affects identification with work-group, it has insignificant effects on identification with organization and employee performance. Openness of management, on the other hand, increases identification with organization and it insignificantly affects identification with work-group and employee performance. Besides, identification with organization positively affects employee performance and identification with work-group does not significantly affect employee performance. Despite some limitations, research findings are believed to give significant clues to managers, employees and researchers.
