Abstract
Literature’s Role in Foreign Language Teaching and its Effect on Linguistic Skill Development
Humanity tried to learn foreign languages for various purposes, with various methods
throughout history. Learning a foreign language is a process of obtaining necessary
knowledge and skills to comunicate in that language. In this process, literature generally
has been a neglected area. Some students’ negative point of view and tendency of being
afraid from unknown trivialized literatures usage in foreign language teaching.
Process of language teaching being supported with a wide range of methods in classroom.
Alongside these methods, sources that being used are also matter of importance.
This study aims to examine the literature classes and course content of foreing language
learners at university level.
