Abstract
Student Views About the Visual Culture of the Lived Environment
In this research, on the basis of the educational experiences of the candidate teachers
who had art teaching, the evaluation of their observations in terms of visual culture
related to the city where they live in is carried out. The research is limited with the views
of candidate teachers of Art Teaching at Ömer Halisdemir (Niğde) University Faculty
of Education, Department of Fine Arts Education. 25 people, consisting of fourth-year
students who had art teaching and aware of visual culture consciousness, comprising the
2014-2015 academic year, constitute the working group. The study is a case study, which is one of the qualitative research methods. An interview form consisting of open-ended
questions is applied. The obtained data are classified according to their themes and codes
by content analysis and tabulated. As a result, positive and negative examples of visual
culture are identified with the viewpoint of students who have aesthetic sensitivity and
it is submitted as a suggestion that they can be done to correct the elements, which are
considered as negative.
