Abstract


Investigation of Mesasurements for Children’s Pictures Books Selection of Parents with 3-6 Year Old Children
Children's literature is the first source that introduces children to the aesthetic language that is formed by correct singing of color, line words for the first time in the preschool period. Especially the colors are included in children's books and they give an explicit basic to the artistic work that the child will continue along his life. The aim of studying this direction is to examine the criteria for selecting picture books for 3-6 year old children according to parents. The sample of study consisted of 7 mother and 7 father who are 14 parents of 3-6 year old children. In the study, phenomenology (phenomenology) design is used in qualitative research methods. The results of the study were collected through a semi-structured interview form. The obtained data were analyzed by content analysis method. The findings are presented with quantitative data and supporting with direct quotations. As a result of the research, it has been determined that when parents take book for their children, they pay attention of age appropriateness, color and fonts, content of pictures, educational, amusing and creative. Parents also pointed out that they did not care about the price when they bought their children’s pictures books for their children, and they pointed out that they had bought them from bookstores after they received their children's ideas; also they pointed out that they did not have a library dedicated to their children at home.
