Abstract

Crimean-Caucasian Migrations Till 1877-1878 Ottoman-Russian War & Situation Of Erzurum
Abstract One of the earliest events of the world, migration has ever had a deep impact on the lives of communities and people all throughout the history. This act of migration generally results from people’s attempts to find better places to live. However, apart from this, migration also takes place as the result of politic reasons, as was the case with the period under discussion. In the 19th century, the Ottoman State faced a great wave of migration which led to political, social and economic problems and displaced millions of people. People suffered much from it, but necessary precautions were taken preventing many destructive effects and newcomers were populated in suitable regions. The most badly affected areas were the places bordering Russia, which produced the problems. Within this context, Erzurum was also badly affected by the events. Not only did the migrants but also the natives of Erzurum bore the brunt of these events.
