Abstract
The Effect of Information and Communication Technologies (Ict) on Inflation: An Application on Turkey
Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) can play a very important role in the economy due to the effects such as increasing productivity, lowering production cost and having price transparency. Therefore, it is important to investigate the impact of ICT on economic indicators such as the inflation rate. In this study, estimates were made using the Lagrangian Distributed Autoregressive (ARDL) Model method using annual data from 1980 to 2015. With this method, the effect of ICT on inflation in Turkey has been tested. According to model predictions, the effect of ICT on inflation is -0.78 in the short term. This means a 0.78% decline in inflation as a result of a 1% increase in fixed and mobile subscriber numbers in Turkey.
