Abstract

Messaging Problem in Pre-School Teaching Children’s Books: Series of Stories by Leyla Fonten
The study in which works of Tülin Kozikoğlu were investigated in terms of negative messages was carried out using document analysis design. In the study, 9 books in the series of Stories by Leyla Fonten written by Tülin Kozikoğlu were analyzed by the determinations of researchers and students who were studying at pre-school teaching department. In order to create data for the study, books of Tülin Kozikoğlu were read by the researchers, message problems determined in texts and images were discussed and noted. Also, these books were repeatedly read for three times in four different periods by determined pre-service pre-school teaching teachers, and the pre-service teachers were asked to write the negative messages they could determine, if present, with their reasons. The data obtained for the study were analyzed in two ways. Primarily, the determinations of the researchers related to the books were analyzed descriptively, and subsequently, negative messages possible to be determined were tried to be grouped in itself. Similarly, the data obtained from the pre-service teachers were primarily associated with the book titles, and subsequently, these were subjected to content analysis combining the similar determinations. At the end of the study, it was determined that there were several negative messages in series of Stories from Leyla Fonten by Tülin Kozikoğlu. In the study, it was concluded that the messages related to the mentioned feelings in the series were not clear, exaggerated feelings were affirmed, errors were experienced related to the concepts used in texts, some problems were not deeply examined, solutions were not offered, and friendship relationships were not established on the basis of trust.
