Abstract


Analysis of Classroom Teacher Candidates in Terms of the Anxiety They Experience Prior to Beginning Their Profession
In this study, it has been analyzed whether the anxiety experienced by classroom teacher candidates who are receiving education at the faculty of education about the teaching profession displays any differences in terms of different variables. In this study which aims at presenting the anxiety levels of classroom teacher candidates on their profession, the survey model among the quantitative research methods has been used. The study group of the study consists of students who are receiving education at Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University’s Faculty of Education, Classroom Teaching Department in the 2016-2017 academic year at all grade levels. The study group consists of 235 students who were selected through the simple random sampling method.. For the collection of data, the ‘Occupational Anxiety Scale for Teacher Candidates’ which consists of eight sub-dimensions developed by Cabı and Yalçınalp (2013) and whose Cronbach Alpha value was determined as .92 was used. In the analysis of quantitative data in the study, the SPSS 23 software program has been used. According to the results of the study, it has been seen that classroom teaching candidates experience anxiety at a similar level in many sub-factors in terms of their gender; anxiety experienced due to being appointed is in particularhigher in the upper grades in terms of grade levels; more successful students experience higher levels of anxiety about how to carry out their profession in terms of academic success and that candidates who belong to the higher income level experience economic anxiety in terms of the income levels of their families. When we take a look atthe results in general, although the results are not sufficient in terms of creating a significant difference at times, it was seen that the teacher candidates experience middle or high level of anxiety in terms of all the variables.
