Abstract
Classroom Teachers from the Perspectives of Branch Teachers Working in Primary Schools
The main purpose of this research is to determine the point of view of the branch
teachers (counseling and guidance, English, religious culture and ethics) who work in
primary schools. In the direction of the research, which is a descriptive case study in
qualitative research type, the sample of the study consisted of fifteen teachers who were
selected with homogeneous sampling method, one of the purposeful sampling methods,
among the teachers who worked in the branches of counseling and guidance, English,
religious culture and ethics in the primary school in Ağrı province. The data were
obtained by the semi-structured interview protocol which was prepared by taking the
opinions of the experts in the field and from the literature in line with the purpose of
the study. In accordance with the interview protocol, participants were asked to answer
questions about their personal information and open-ended questions. In this study, it
is aimed to determine the positive and negative thoughts of the branch teachers about
working in primary schools, which education institution the branch teachers prefer to
take part in and their reasons, the opinions of the branch teachers about the transition to
classroom teaching, and their evaluation about classroom teaching and branch teaching
by comparing these two.According to the findings obtained from the study in the direction
of this goal, branch teachers working in primary schools stated their positive opinions
as the love of the primary school students is intemperate, teaching classes is easy and
fun; and their negative opinions as the students cannot express themselves, branch
teachers have difficulty in teaching the lessons appropriate to the students' level. While
comparing their own branches and classroom teaching, the branch teachers stated that
classroom teaching is a difficult area that requires patience and sacrifice, and which
requires teaching basic knowledge. Some of the branch teachers want to take part in
primary school because of their experience and some of them want to work in high school,
secondary school and university for various reasons. It was determined that most of the
branch teachers do not want to change their profession to classroom teaching.
