Abstract


COMPARISON OF BURNOUT LEVELS OF CARE PERSONNEL WHO CARE FOR SEVERE DISABLED PATIENTS AT HOME AND IN AN INSTITUTION: THE CASE OF SANLIURFA*
Objective: This study aims to examine the effect of social support level in the workplace and professional self-esteem on life satisfaction of a medical social worker. Methods: The research was designed in survey model. Studies were included all those working in the medical field of social services in Turkey and 203 medical social workers have been reached. The dependent variable of the study is life satisfaction, independent variables sociodemographic characteristics, professional self-esteem and social support points at work. In the study, socio-demographic characteristics information form, Professional Self-Esteem Scale, Life Satisfaction Scale and Swedish Workload, Control, Social Support Scale, Social Support Sub-dimension were used. Correlation analysis, student’s t test, ANOVA and linear regression analysis were used for data collected by electronic form. Results: According to the findings of univariate analysis, the life satisfaction and professional self-esteem of married social workers are higher than the single ones. Those who prefer the unit they work in and who receive in-service training seem to have higher professional self-esteem. In addition, professional self-esteem on life satisfaction and social support in the workplace is found to be significantly effective. In multivariate analysis, it was found that professional self-esteem (β = 0.446, p <0.001) and social support at work (β = 0.207, p <0.001) significantly increased the life satisfaction of medical social workers. Conclusion: The professional self-esteem and social support in the workplace increases the medical social worker at a significant level of life satisfaction positively.
