The Language Style in Ibn Hazm Al-Andalusî’s Religious Poems
Ibn Hazm al-Andalusi (m.s. 944-1064), a member of Zâirism is among the prominent scholars of his period. In addition to being a scholar with studies of islamic law, philosophy and logic, he is also one of the most significant poets of Andalusia. However, he is harshly criticised for his language style particularly his little use of art of rhetoric, and for expressing his poetry rather as close to prose. This study aims to evaluate such critism by a language analysis of selected poems in Ibn Hazm ez-Zahiri' s work called Divanu el-Imam, which was investigated by Abdu'l- Kerîm Subhî.
